Summer Grilling Ideas That Will Work This Winter

Burgers and Brats

All it takes is a quick glance at the image above to have the average person thinking…”hmmm…I’m really craving a burger or some brats.” After all, it’s just not the same when you make it on top of the stove or, worse yet, on the electric grill. There’s just something about a good burger that works the best when it’s made on a good, old fashioned propane grill. Here’s a recipe we think you’ll love because you get the best of both worlds.

Prepare a burger your favorite way, cooking it to your liking. Similarly, cook a brat until it’s done, making sure the juices inside run clear (our recommendation is to overdo it because there’s just something wonderful about a brat that’s been cooked just a little bit too long). Toast your bun. When everything’s ready, plate your burger on the toasted bun. Split your bratwurst in half longways and arrange the two pieces on top of your burger. Whether you top it with a slice of cheddar, a zesty yellow mustard of your choice, or your favorite sauerkraut, it’s sure to become a family favorite!

Pizza

Pizza is a pretty unique food. No matter what you put on it, it’s always a family favorite. Unfortunately, exorbitantly high delivery prices and long wait times make ordering a pizza an exercise in patience. This gas grill recipe is sure to make you forget all about the pie place across town, so let your family pick your toppings of choice, fire up the grill (one side over high heat and one side over medium, please), and let’s get to it!

Whether you have a favorite DIY dough recipe or you prefer to take a hand from the pre-made dough at the store, the key to getting things to work out the way you want them to is to let it hang out in the refrigerator for a while before you toss them on the grill. From there, get your ingredients together. You’ll need to combine crushed tomatoes, a touch of olive oil, and some black pepper. Let that simmer on your stove, then add one cup of water and cook over medium to medium-high heat until your sauce is thick.

Once you’re ready, begin cooking your dough on the hot side of the grill until marks appear on the bottom. When they begin to show up, flip your crust over and transfer it to the medium side of the grill and brush on your sauce. Top with your favorite cheese (we suggest colby jack for something a bit different) and your toppings of choice (it’s hard to beat pepperoni, isn’t it?). Cook until the cheese is melted, then transfer to a pizza pan and let it set for a few minutes, then serve and enjoy!

Peaches

This one is a breeze, and trust us when we say that it’s easier than making a peach pie in the dead of winter and the taste will leave you just as satisfied. It’s the perfect simple dessert that the whole family is sure to love! These summer grilling ideas translate perfectly to the winter.

Halve 3 or 4 peaches while your grill is heating to a nice medium-low. Brush generously with 3 tablespoons of melted butter. Close your grill and cook for about 5 minutes before flipping and grilling the other side. Sprinkle with a mixture of cinnamon and brown sugar and serve with a bowl of vanilla bean ice cream. Then sit back and relax, knowing that you prepared a dessert that was a breeze to make and left your whole family satisfied and smiling!
