There’s a good chance that you read the title of today’s blog and immediately thought, “peanut butter and jelly and ground beef sounds like an easy pass to me.” And admittedly, on first inspection, adding all of those ingredients together does sort of sound like a recipe for disaster. We would like to pose a question to you, however–how are you ever going to know unless you actually give it a try?
Here at Mighty Flame Propane Cylinder Exchange, our philosophy is that everything is worth trying at least once and that a bit of experimentation with your grilling can keep things from getting boring. We have found that many grillers can tend to find themselves in a bit of a rut, making the same dishes over and over again. Although there’s nothing wrong with this, creativity is the spice of life.
So What Will You Need?
We will readily admit that there are quite a few recipes out there that sound like something we might never want to try, but trust us when we say that one bite of this burger and it’ll knock your socks off! It combines a bit of subtle sweetness with some wonderful saltiness and the end result is a burger that you’ll be craving.
As a matter of fact, we have discussed the basics of a peanut butter and jelly burger before and provided our readers with a simple template to follow. If that suggestion didn’t quite catch you last time, this one just might as we provide a more specific recipe that is sure to please. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Whole wheat buns
- 80/20 ground beef
- Raspberry preserves
- Chunky peanut butter
- Banana
If that list of ingredients is intimidating, trust us when we say that these ingredients all come together beautifully providing you with a burger that’s good enough for the King. As we previously mentioned, our last post on the topic of peanut butter and jelly burgers was just allow our readers to dip their toes in the water and get their feet wet. Now it’s time to make the dive, friends and neighbors.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Preheat Your Grills
Our actual grilling technique will be essentially the same here. Start by preheating your grill to medium high heat. In the meantime, season your ground beef with a bit of salt and pepper and start forming your patties. Don’t forget to make a dimple in the middle to ensure that the final result is properly shaped!
Next, start toasting your buns. The whole wheat buns help to take this burger to the next level and we think you’re really going to enjoy the end result. Once you have enough toastiness going on, spread on a bit of chunky peanut butter–a little bit goes a long way in this burger–and a touch of preserves. Slice your bananas into medallions and add a couple to the top half of your bun.
When your burgers are done, go ahead and assemble them to allow the peanut butter to melt just a bit and get nice and gooey. Serve immediately and enjoy immensely!
What Did You Think?
Is it dinner and dessert in one package? Are you still allowed to have ice cream afterwards? Do you even need it? We sure don’t know, but one thing is for certain–this is one recipe you’ll come back to again and again when you need to get yourself out of a food rut. The way that the burger combines with the creaminess of the peanut butter and the sweetness of the jelly is truly incredible.
If you’re still trying to convince yourself to try this, it might help to think of the sweetness of the jam almost like the sweetness you get from adding ketchup to a burger. At the end of the day, we have one thing to say–you can’t knock it until you try it, and once you do, we can all but guarantee you’re going to be glad you made the effort!
