With the Fourth of July just over a week away, people all across the United States are gearing up for one of the biggest days for barbecue of the entire year. For many, the day will be filled with burgers and brats, and we can’t think of a better way to enjoy a day off of work! Add in some cold beverages, good company, and your favorite music, and that’s a recipe for success no matter how you look at it.

At Mighty Flame Propane Cylinder Exchange, our goal is to help make your day just a little bit easier. As you are no doubt aware, planning an event can be stressful. Even if you’re not the type of person to normally get worked up about things, having people over at your house and making sure you have enough food and drinks for everyone can get a little bit stressful.

What if your friend brings a friend or two? What if no one likes the salad? What if there’s not enough space in our backyard for everyone to have fun? The list of questions that can roll through your mind is endless, but in today’s post, we have some advice to help. If the little details matter to you, keep reading to get a few of our best suggestions!

How to Make Sure Your Barbecue is a Success

We recently wrote a post about three tips for a great July 4th barbecue, and we stand by all of those suggestions, but for those who are looking to dig a little deeper, we have you covered as well. Here are three more little things you can do to ensure that your get together is a success.

Buy More Than You Think You’ll Need

One of the absolute best things you can do for any event that you’re hosting is to buy more food than you think you’ll need. This ensures that you’re totally in the clear. In some instances, all of the extra food will be gone at the end of the event and you’ll be glad you had it on hand; in others, you’ll have leftovers, and when you really think about it, is that such a bad thing? We’d be inclined to think that it’s not. Is a leftover burger quite as delicious the next day? We will concede that it’s probably not, but hey, it’s still a burger!

Either way, if you plan to have more food than you suspect you’ll need, even if it ends up gone at the end of your event, you can rest assured that no one went hungry on your watch. If people leaving with full bellies and smiles on their faces isn’t evidence of a successful barbecue, we certainly don’t know what is.

Plan Your Playlist Beforehand

Music is one of the greatest gifts that humans have because it can help to set the mood for pretty much any event. If there is what would have otherwise been an awkward silence, music fills it. No matter what type of tunes you like, you have to agree that it’s an essential part of any party.

Our suggestion is to take the time and make a playlist yourself. Sure, you could fire up one of the many music playing apps on your smart device and ask it to play a genre of music, but this is your party, so why not take the opportunity to listen to exactly what you want to hear? If the thought of this stresses you out, look around for a playlist that has already been created that you like the sound of. From there, feel free to add to or subtract from it to create the perfect mood for your event.

It might seem like a little thing, but trust us when we say that when the music is just right, your event will be perfect. When you combine great music with friends and conversation, you’re sure to have a party that people will enjoy and talk about for many months to come. It doesn’t get much better than that!

Ask Your Guests to Bring Something

Here’s probably the best advice you’ll ever get about hosting an event, and in this case, we did save the best for last. Don’t hesitate to ask your guests to bring a side dish, beverage, or dessert to your event. You might be tempted to feel like you should be the one solely responsible for providing your guests with food, but the good news is that this couldn’t be further from the truth.

When people are invited to an event, they’re happy to contribute to whatever is needed for its success. Think of it this way–if you’re kind enough to host your friends, family, and neighbors for a barbecue in your backyard, your guests want to know how they can help. After all, if the situation were reversed and you had been asked to visit the home of friends who were hosting a party and they asked you to bring something, you’d be glad to do it!

Put aside the thought that you are responsible for everything, because the contributions of your guests will help to complete your event and the end result will be better than the sum of its parts.
