We thought we’d start things off on the right foot with today’s post by offering an easy grilling recipe that anyone can enjoy and that everyone will love.

With the holidays now squarely in the rearview mirror, many of us are looking for ways to get things done quickly and easily so we can recuperate a bit from the stress of engaging with family and friends. The holidays are always a blast, of course, but they can be so exhausting that when they’re over, we’re just looking to get back into the swing of things. The easy recipe in today’s blog ought to do the trick perfectly. So without further ado, we present our recipe for…

Grilled Steak Burrito Bowls

As we mentioned above, our goal is to make things quick and easy for our readers out there who are still recovering from the holidays. What better way to do that than with a healthy dose of comfort food? The best part is that you can completely customize this dish to your liking. You don’t have to head to the fast casual Mexican place down the street to have food that’s fast and insanely delicious. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Your favorite steak
  • One cup of white rice
  • A can of pinto beans
  • Salt and pepper
  • Cilantro
  • One small onion
  • One package of shredded cheese (your choice)
  • Your favorite salsa
  • Your favorite guacamole

There’s something that’s just incredibly awesome about throwing a bunch of delicious tasting foods into a bowl and going to town. Burrito bowls are one of the best ways to get a meal that will stick to your bones without going to an insane amount of effort in the kitchen. After all, we’re trying to keep the effort to a minimum here!

Prep Work

Start by cooking one cup of rice in two cups of water and season with a bit of salt. You can also get your beans ready and make sure all of your ingredients are in order. Dice your onion into appropriately small pieces. If you prefer to make your own guacamole, now is the time.

Of course you can also purchase a tub of guacamole at the supermarket and still enjoy an incredible meal when all is said and done.

Fire Up Your Grill

Regardless of the cut of steak you’ve chosen, you’ll start by firing up your grill and seasoning both sides of your meat with salt and pepper. At this point, you can grill it however you prefer. When it’s done, slice your steak into thin strips and set them aside.

Once that’s all set, simply start assembling all of your ingredients together in a bowl. Start with a base layer of rice, then add beans, meat, onion, cilantro, your favorite salsa, and a bit of your favorite cheese. Top it all off with some guacamole and you’re just about in the clear!

The beauty of this recipe is that you can customize it however you want. Prefer black beans to pinto beans? Swap them out! Like cheddar cheese on your burrito? Add it. Does one family member enjoy chicken and not steak? Toss a chicken breast on the grill while your steaks are cooking. At the end of the day, you are fully in control of what comes out of your kitchen, but the good news is that it’s probably going to taste amazing.
