If you’ve been following along with our blog recently, you’ve probably noticed that we’ve started a series entitled “Buy a Propane Tank and Start Cooking.” This series has been specifically designed to get those who are new to cooking on the grill to grab a propane tank, fire up the grill, and start cooking.
Sure, it can be a bit intimidating at first, especially if you’ve never grilled before, but think back to your first experiences with cooking. We’ve all accidentally burned some food or mixed up ingredients or just flat out made something that didn’t come out the way we thought it would.
No matter who you are, you can grill. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible by providing great recipes with detailed instructions and by encouraging experimentation. The key to successfully cooking on the grill is in repetition. The more you do it, the more you’ll understand how your grill works, the more you’ll be comfortable changing up recipes, and the more you’ll love the art of cooking.
And it all starts with buying a propane tank!
In today’s blog, we’ll take a look at a few more great recipes that anyone can make easily and that the whole family is sure to love. Keep reading for today’s suggestions!
You Know Where to Buy a Propane Tank, So Let’s Start Cooking!
What does the perfect burger look like to you? Whether it’s your basic cheeseburger or something more elaborate like one of the delicious burger creations in our last blog, it’s absolutely vital to come up with the perfect side dish. Making traditional french fries on the grill is a bit easier said than done, but that doesn’t mean that a great side dish can’t simply be thrown on the grill while you’re making your burgers.
Don’t just settle for some microwaved tater tots or stove-heated broccoli. We can do better than that! You decided to buy a propane tank, so let’s put it to good use making some of the most mouthwateringly delicious side dishes you’ve ever had.
Honey-Glazed Potato Wedges
You can opt for good old fashioned regular Idaho potatoes or sweet potatoes for this recipe, but whatever you do, you’re sure to end up with a real crowd-pleaser. Trust us when we say that it’s in your best interest to make about twice as many of these as you think you’ll need because they’re impossible to stop eating.
Start by washing your potatoes and then slicing each potato in half, then set it cut side down to make it easier to work with. From there, simply slice into your potatoes long-ways to create wedges. Cut them thick if you like or if you prefer them slightly crispier, cut them thinner.
In a bowl, combine ¼ cup of olive oil (per 6 potatoes you use), then season with salt and pepper to taste. Drizzle in a squeeze or two of honey. The best way to measure this out is to simply eyeball it. Want your wedges a little sweeter? Add a bit more honey. Prefer just a hint of honey? Only add a little. There’s no wrong way to do it and they’ll turn out great either way.
You can add some paprika, red pepper flakes, cayenne pepper, cinnamon, or anything else you think would complement the flavors. Experiment a bit or just stick with the base recipe. No matter what you do, your family is sure to love them.
You’ll want to be sure to put these on your grill as soon as it’s hot as they’ll take a bit longer than your burgers will. Depending on the thickness of your slices and the heat you’re cooking at, it could take anywhere between 30 minutes and an hour or so. Just make sure you get that beautiful golden-brown color and you’ll be set!
Finish your potato wedges by sprinkling with a bit of grated parmesan cheese and enjoy! The beauty of this recipe is that if your wedges are done before you burgers are ready, you can just transfer them to a cooler part of the grill to keep them warm until you’re ready to serve your burgers.
