Now That You’re Done with the Propane Tank Exchange, Let’s Start Cooking!
Who doesn’t love a good meatball? Perhaps you have a tried and true recipe for meatballs and you’re looking to try something a little bit different for a change of pace. Maybe you’ve never made a meatball before in your life and you’re just eager to try something on the grill.
Either way, this recipe is incredibly simple and it will absolutely provide you with the mouthwatering taste you’re looking for. Perhaps best of all is that because these meatballs are so versatile, you can enjoy them on their own in some red sauce, throw them in a pasta, or make a sandwich. More on that later, but for now, let’s start grilling.
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
Start by combining two pounds of lean ground beef, one finely chopped onion, 2 cloves of garlic, 1 egg, a tablespoon of sage, and salt and pepper to taste in a large bowl. Mix everything together well with your hands. Don’t be afraid to really get in there and mix things up. This will ensure that all of your ingredients come together well, so take your time and be sure that everything comes together perfectly.
(Quick side note: this same mixture also makes for an incredible meatloaf recipe if you grate a cup and a half of carrots into it with a half cup of breadcrumbs and bake in the oven for an hour at 375 degrees.)
Next, form your meatballs, aiming for a meatball that is approximately 2 ½-3 inches in diameter. Place your meatballs onto skewers, then sprinkle lightly with salt and cinnamon, which may sound odd, but trust us when we say that it brings this recipe to life!
Lightly oil your meatballs with a high quality extra virgin olive oil and place on the grill rack. Your cook time will vary slightly, but between eight and ten minutes should be plenty as long as you cook them evenly on all sides. The outside should be golden brown in color and the inside should be totally cooked through.
At this point, your meatballs are ready to serve.
Our suggestion is for a meatball sandwich, so grab your favorite loaf of bread, cut off the end, and hollow it out, replacing the bread inside with meatballs, your favorite marinara sauce, and plenty of mozzarella cheese.
Place the bread back on the grill and cook until everything is nice and hot and your cheese is melted. Serve immediately and enjoy a flavorful dish that the whole family will love!
