If you’re anything like most Americans, you love the taste of a good buffalo sauce. Some of us even make getting wings an activity that we participate in on a weekly basis! Chances are that you have a favorite wing place in your neighborhood as well. What if we told you that you could take some of that flavor and throw it on your grill to enjoy on a Monday evening? No, we’re not giving you our wing recipe just yet, but we are going to show you how to incorporate some of those flavors into a dish that you’re sure to love. And without further ado, we present…
The Spicy Buffalo Burger!
There’s just something special about ending a day at work by tossing some burgers on the grill and enjoying a cold drink. It allows you to slow down a bit and enjoy the process of making food with your own two hands. This burger, then, is likely to become a staple as it elevates your burger into something unique and incredible.
There are a few things you’ll want to do. Swing by the grocery store to grab some ingredients (listed out below) and head to the nearest propane cylinder exchange location to make sure you have plenty of propane to grill with. Other than that, it’s off to the races! Here’s what you’ll need for the Spicy Buffalo Burger:
- 80/20 ground beef
- Burger buns of your choice
- Hot sauce (Frank’s Red Hot, Frank’s Red Hot Buffalo, or Pepper Plant Chunky Garlic are great in this application)
- Mozzarella cheese
- Onion powder
- Ranch dressing
Let’s Get It Fired Up
Just like usual, start things off by preheating your grill to a nice medium-high heat and then head back inside to start assembling our ingredients.
Start by combining your ground beef with about half a cup of hot sauce and a dash or two of onion powder to suit your tastes. As always, your burgers should end up being about half an inch in thickness and you should form a dimple in the middle to ensure that juices distribute evenly while you’re cooking.
Once your grill is heated, toss your burgers on and cook them to your liking. In our tests, about 4 minutes per side was perfect, but of course your mileage may vary depending on the heat of your grill and a handful of other factors. The best way to make sure everything is cooked perfectly is to grab your trusty thermometer and keep an eye on the temperature until it is cooked to your liking.
Of course you will also want to brush on a bit of extra hot sauce in the last couple of minutes and add some mozzarella cheese to the top to help cool your taste buds off a bit when you finally dig in! Now is a good time to throw your buns on the grill as well to make sure that they’re nice and toasty.
Plate and Serve
Now the fun part–eating! Pull your burgers off the grill and serve them up nice and hot with ranch dressing on the side for dipping. We know, we know–dip a burger in the ranch? Trust us when we say that it’s the icing on the cake (well…actually it’s the dressing on the burger, but you get the point).
You can also serve these burgers with a side of celery and carrot sticks to give yourself the best of both worlds. Some may opt for a nice blue cheese dressing on the side, but we’re ranch folks through and through. Either way, we think you’re in for a real treat!
Whether you’re a massive fan of buffalo wings or you’re just the type who enjoys a unique burger recipe every now and then, we think you’ll agree that this burger is full of out of this world flavor that’s sure to please.
