It’s the middle of the week and you’re feeling a little bit burnt out. Work is the same repetitive thing day in and day out and you feel like you have been digging your way out of a massive pile of emails, but they just seem to keep coming in. You attend another meeting that somehow seems to leave you even more confused walking out than when you walked in. Sometimes something as simple as getting through the week can be a huge challenge!

It makes sense then that you’d need a little bit of a pick-me-up to help you get through. At Mighty Flame Propane Cylinder Exchange, we are huge advocates of doing something for yourself at least once a day. It could be as simple as treating yourself to coffee or as grand as heading to a massage clinic after work to let a massage therapist help you get rid of some of your tension.

Or, of course, it could come in the form of a meal that you cook for yourself on an evening in the middle of the week.

Mighty Flame to the Rescue

Sometimes it really is the little things that help to turn things around. And seeing as how we can’t treat you to a cup of coffee or suggest the perfect massage clinic in your area, we’d like to share a recipe that is so simple to make that it will help to put a bit of pep back into your step tomorrow. After this meal, you’ll be feeling energized and optimistic that there are just a few short days before the weekend when you’ll finally be able to kick back and really take it easy.

The Perfect Cheeseburger That’s Perfectly Easy

We have shared some of our favorite burger recipes right here on our blog, but sometimes it’s just a good idea to get back to the basics and really enjoy one of your favorite meals in its simplest form. Making a cheeseburger in the middle of the week means you don’t want to do anything fancy like sautee some mushrooms or create a wine and garlic butter sauce for your bun. Instead, it’s all about finding the perfect combination of basic ingredients–many of which you’ll likely already have in your pantry and your refrigerator–and just making something that tastes good.

To make yourself the perfect burger, here’s what you’ll need:

  • Ground beef
  • Sesame seed buns
  • Mild cheddar cheese
  • Seasoned salt
  • Pepper
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder

It’s a pretty modest list of ingredients to be sure, but the beauty of the classic cheeseburger lies in its simplicity. And its delicious taste that you can enjoy on a Wednesday!

Start by preheating your grill to medium high heat. In the meantime, combine your ground beef with a few dashes of seasoned salt, pepper (freshly cracked black pepper if you have it), garlic powder, and onion powder. Don’t be afraid to get in there and mix everything up with your hands. There are a number of people out there who say that you really shouldn’t overwork the ground beef when you’re making patties, but our advice is to do whatever works best for you. Different people prefer different methods, and while some advocate for only eating a burger medium-rare or only enjoying it with a particular cheese, we believe that you should do whatever is right for you.

The final step is to form your patties, remembering to make a dimple in the middle in order to allow your burger to expand while it’s cooking and end up relatively flat when they are cooked.

Throw Them On The Grill

Once your grill has been sufficiently preheated–15 to 20 minutes should do the trick for most grills–go ahead and throw your burger patties on. The key to your success here is going to be in how long you leave them on the grill and how often you flip them. Different people prefer different things, but at the end of the day, cooking to your desired temperature will give you a delicious burger that you’re going to enjoy eating. Here’s how it breaks down:

A burger is considered rare when it’s heated to 120 to 129 degrees. It’s medium rare between 130 and 139 degrees. A nice medium burger will be sitting between 140 and 159 degrees. Medium well ranges from 150 to 159 and well done is anything above 160.

However you choose to cook your burger, toss on a slice of cheese a couple of minutes before you’re done, close the lid to allow it to melt, and you’ll be eating well in no time. Don’t forget to toast your bun! Plate that burger up, add some condiments (or don’t!), and dig in, knowing that your week is almost over and this delicious cheeseburger is going to help get you past the finish line. Serve with any side you choose–whether it’s your favorite potato chip or you decide to cut some potatoes of your own into wedges and toss those on the grill as well, you’re in for a real treat.
