If you haven’t seen our most recent blog yet, trust us when we say that it’s in your best interest to take a look. In it, we discuss one of the criminally underlooked foods that is also an incredibly easy food to grill: the hot dog. It’s our opinion that all too often, people don’t give hot dogs the time of day when the reality is that as long as you get a hot dog that is of good quality and then grill it properly, it can be one of the best foods around. The fact that it’s also an easy food to grill is just icing on the cake. (Or, in this case, ketchup on the hot dog.)

At Mighty Flame Propane Cylinder Exchange, we are huge proponents for the humble hot dog, and in that same vein, we’d like to tackle another hotly contested and highly controversial question: is a hot dog a sandwich? In today’s blog, we’ll take a closer look at this question that has plagued people all across the world for ages. What’s the answer? Keep reading to find out!

What the Comedians Are Saying

Let’s first take a look at what comedians have to say regarding this incredibly important issue. Many professional comedians have a way of stating the truth in a way that makes us laugh, so we felt that it was important to take a look at what a few of these people have to say.

We’ll start with Judge John Hodgman. You might know Hodgman for his role as a personal computer in the numerous Apple commercials, but he is also the host of his podcast, Judge John Hodgman. Wikipedia describes the show perfectly: “The program features host John Hodgman acting as a judge (with Jesse Thorn as bailiff) adjudicating real-life disputes within a fictional courtroom setting.”

During a guest appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Colbert asks Hodgman was his most controversial ruling has been on his podcast to date. That ruling, of course, centers around the question of whether or not a hot dog is a sandwich. Hodgman emphatically declares that the answer is no, while Colbert suggests that the answer is obviously a yes because it is “meat between two slices of bread.” Hodgman then notes that you don’t do with a hot dog what you do with literally every other sandwich in existence–cut it in half.

Stay Tuned for Part Two

We’re just scratching the surface of this hotly debated topic. Which side are you on? In part two of our blog, we’ll take a look at what the experts are saying and, of course, we’ll be sure to let you know what our opinion on the matter is.

In the meantime, if all of this hot dog talk has left you hungry, be sure to stop by your nearest propane tank exchange location and stock up on the propane you need to grill up something delicious. Until next time!
