In our last blog, we promised our readers a few kabob recipes that we think will truly be mindblowing. Not only are we bringing you a classic that’s easy to make, but we’re also serving up a recipe that’s specifically tailored to those who are seeking something that’s just a little bit out of the ordinary.
So why not head to the nearest propane cylinder exchange location, make a grocery list, and get the grill fired up? Without further ado, here are three of our must-try kabob recipes.
Classic Kabobs
This one is about as simple and delicious as it gets. It’s a classic that won’t disappoint, particularly if you follow our advice of cooking your meat separately from everything else. In other words, each skewer gets filled with the same ingredient. You’ll start by making a marinade of extra light olive oil, garlic salt, thyme, and fresh pepper. Add your chopped beef and let everything sit for an hour or so.
In the meantime, prepare your veggies. You’ll need a green bell pepper, a tomato, an onion, and your favorite mushrooms, all chopped down into bite size pieces. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Drizzle a bit of olive oil over your veggies and season with salt and pepper. Toss everything on the grill and cook to your preferred level of doneness.
To serve, squeeze just a bit of lemon juice over the top and garnish with a bit of basil if you prefer. At this point, you can create new skewers with each of the ingredients on a skewer or you can serve it up on a plate and eat it with a fork. The choice is yours, but one thing is for certain–you won’t have any leftovers!
Spaghetti and Meatball Kabobs
This recipe starts with your favorite meatball recipe. If you don’t have one, a quick internet search will return plenty of results for you to try, but the goal is to find one that’s a classic. You’ll follow that recipe and then freeze at least a dozen or so meatballs at the end. This is the perfect way to enjoy a meatball sandwich on a Monday evening and fire up the grill for some kabobs on a Friday night.
To get started on your kabobs, defrost your previously made meatballs and start skewering! Add bits of green, yellow, and red peppers as well as onions and tomatoes to make up your kabob, then brush everything with a bit of your favorite marinara sauce. Grill over medium-high heat until your kabobs are cooked all the way through and everything is nice and hot.
Serve immediately and revel in the fact that you just made a unique and tasty kabob.
Bacon Cheeseburger Kabobs
Grilling and burgers go hand in hand. So does grilling and kabobs! Therefore, this recipe is truly the best of both worlds. Remember the meatballs from the previous recipe? Here’s the beauty part–those are going to be your best friends in this recipe as well. In this particular case, you’ll want to alter the recipe just a touch to include a few small pieces of bacon in each meatball.
Start by cutting your meatballs in half. Skewer one half, add a small cube of your favorite cheese, a pickle, and a piece of onion, then the other half of your meatball. Repeat until your skewer is full. It’s pretty simple and incredibly delicious. In fact, it’s almost like sliders on a stick!
Grill over medium-high heat until everything is done, turning often to keep your cheese from dripping. Near the end of cooking, brush with a bit of ketchup and mustard and serve it all up nice and hot. It’s the perfect way to enjoy a few of your favorite foods in one easy-to-grill recipe and it’s sure to be a family favorite.
