The Super Bowl is right around the corner and for many people, it’s going to be the biggest party they’ll throw all year. We’ve talked about how to prepare for parties on our blog in the past, but one of the biggest sporting events of the year calls for something truly special. If you’re planning to pull out all the stops for your event, the crown jewel in your get together is going to be the food.
Whether you’re going all out and having a lot of people over or you’ll be spending the afternoon and evening with a few close friends and family members, having something good to snack on is just as much fun as watching the game or tuning in for the halftime show. At the end of the day, people might not remember the commercials or the announcers or the speeches. What they will probably remember is the big plays and the best foods.
We always say that when you buy a propane tank, you unlock a world of culinary possibilities. It only makes sense then that now is the time to put those possibilities to the test and make something truly amazing for your guests.
The Super Bowl Roundup
Grilled Chicken Wings
Way back in September–that feels like about a million years ago at this point, doesn’t it?–we shared a recipe for some of our favorite wings of all time. Here’s what we had to say then:
“Rather than forking out an arm and a leg for over-sauced buffalo wings from the nearest chain restaurant, we think that making them yourself is the way to go. That way you are directly in control of the amount of spice that goes into your food–not to mention the fact that you will also know exactly what’s in the food that you’re eating and that’s always a plus.”
If you can get behind that sentiment, then this recipe is for you! Don’t hesitate to change up the spices; add a few that you love, omit those that you don’t, swap out the proportions. It’s up to you, but the end result is an amazing grilled wing that’s sure to put a smile on the faces of your guests.
Spicy Buffalo Sliders
This recipe was originally written to be for full burgers, but if that’s not appropriate for your Super Bowl party, switch things up a bit and make some sliders instead! They’re the perfect choice for people as they kick back on the couch–or, let’s be honest, stand in your living room while shouting and jumping up and down–and they’re the perfect size. Here’s what we had to say about them:
“You can [enjoy these sliders] with a side of celery and carrot sticks to give yourself the best of both worlds. Some may opt for a nice blue cheese dressing on the side, but we’re ranch folks through and through. Either way, we think you’re in for a real treat!”
Wouldn’t you know it? We still think you’re in for a treat with food this delicious. Give them a try. We can pretty much guarantee it’s all your guests will be able to talk about in the coming months.
Grilled Chicken Quesadillas
The ideal solution when you need something quick and easy that can feed an army, our recipe for grilled chicken quesadillas is another perfect option for when you’re enjoying the big game. Not only is it easy to adapt to your liking, but it’s just plain easy to make. That’s a win/win. Here’s a little tip that we came up with when we shared this recipe back in October of last year:
“Serve with salsa, guacamole, or queso on the side and you can rest assured that people will be talking about your food just as much as they’re talking about the game (if not more!).”
Salsa, guac, and queso are going to be your best friends at a bit sporting event. Stock up on tortilla chips beforehand and even when these quesadillas run out–which they most assuredly will–you’ll still have a few other options for those who are still snacking.
Grilled Shrimp Scampi
We know what you’re thinking, and yes, shrimp scampi is usually designed to be eaten with a fork because of the noodles. The good news is that with a few modifications, you can make this awesome recipe and serve it on a toothpick instead as a wonderful finger food.
Here’s what we said about the original recipe that we suggested would be perfect at a holiday party back at the beginning of December:
“Eight simple ingredients are all you need to make one of the biggest hits of this holiday season. If you’ve never made shrimp scampi before, don’t worry–this recipe is simple to follow and you can tailor it to suit your own tastes.”
There you have it. Just make yourself some shrimp and skewer them with toothpicks. Trust us when we say that your guests won’t even miss the pasta when they’re overwhelmed with the delicious flavor that’s packed into these bite sized treats.
