If you’re just getting started with grilling–or if you are a new griller who is already looking forward to grilling season–and you’re looking for a few tips to get you started off on the right foot, you’re in the right place. At Mighty Flame, we always say that when you buy a propane tank, you unlock a world of culinary possibilities. We make it our goal to share as many of those possibilities as possible with our readers.
That’s why in today’s blog, we’d like to highlight a few of the grill accessories that you are going to need. You may have seen kits that come with 30 tools for what seems like a good deal. The truth of the matter is that you don’t need anywhere that many. In today’s post, we’ll break down a few of the ones that you truly do need.
Our Favorite Grilling Accessories
Tongs
First and foremost, you’ll need a pair of tongs. Your tongs will allow you to rearrange items on the grill, flip your items when they’re ready to be flipped, and pick things up easily. It might seem obvious, but trust us when we say that you’re going to be getting a lot of mileage out of your tongs. Be sure to wash them off after each time you grill and you’ll be in good shape for quite some time.
Metal Spatula
You’re probably planning to grill your fair share of burgers on your grill. If you are anything like us, you’ll be grilling burgers more than anything else. They’re easy to switch up with a few different ingredients and they’re easy to toss on the grill at the end of a long day when you just need an easy meal. A metal spatula will allow you to flip them when the time is right. Like the tongs, be sure to clean your spatula off after each use to keep it in good condition for many years to come.
Meat Thermometer
Here’s the truth–until you have grilled for quite some time, you should be using a meat thermometer to tell you when your meal is done. The secret is that even the pros rely on their meat thermometers to lend a helping hand. At the end of the day, you want to know if your meat is cooked to your preferred level of doneness. A good thermometer that is designed specifically to be used with a grill will last you for many years and it will certainly become the one thing you put your trust in the most.
Wire Bristle Brush
Having a good grill brush is another necessity if you want your grill to last for many years. The trick is to clean all of the gunk and leftover food off of your grill grates while it’s still hot. Our advice is to not overspend on this item because it’s likely to need replacing on a somewhat regular basis. After all, the last thing you want is for the wires to start falling off and ending up in your food. Make it a point to find something that works well for its price and you should be good to go.
Grill Cover
We mentioned this in one of our recent blogs, but if you want your grill to last for several years, it’s in your best interest to cover it up when you’re done cooking. (After the grill has cooled down, of course.) This will keep the exterior of your grill looking good and ensure that it will stand the test of time. Between covering your grill and giving it a deep clean at least once each year, you’re setting yourself up to enjoy your grill for many years to come.
Need to Buy a Propane Tank?
Of course the most important grilling accessory is actually a propane tank. Your grill just wont work without it! If you’re wondering where to buy a propane tank, we can help you with that as well. There are a number of Mighty Flame locations to choose from, so be sure to swing by your nearest one and grab a propane tank to make sure you’re ready for grilling season.
Until next time, friends and neighbors!
