Grilled Caramel Apples

We always say that when you buy a propane tank, you unlock a world of culinary possibilities. Although we often focus our articles on foods like steaks or burgers, we have also been known to indulge our sweet tooth from time to time. Fortunately for lovers of sweets, it’s that time for us! Caramel apples are the perfect sweet treat for a crisp fall weekend and we can’t wait for you to try these things! Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Your favorite apple
  • Store bought caramel sauce
  • Cinnamon sugar

That’s all there is to it! We told you this one was going to be easy and that’s exactly what we meant.

Let’s Get Started

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. In the meantime, start by cutting your apples into thick slices. Once your grill is ready to go, arrange your slices on the grill, making certain to get them relatively close to one another. This will help them to steam, cooking them more quickly and creating a delicious taste that you’re sure to appreciate.

Close the lid on your grill and cook for about five minutes, then gently turn them over. Cook another 3 or 4 minutes. Your goal is to get grill marks, but not burn your apples. Remove the apple slices from the grill and set them aside. Next, put a piece of tinfoil on your grill grates, add your apples, and drizzle to your liking with caramel sauce over indirect heat with the lid closed. It shouldn’t take long for things to get nice and gooey.

To serve, fan your apple slices out on a plate and sprinkle with a bit of cinnamon sugar to finish things off perfectly and enjoy them while they’re nice and warm. At this point you could also drizzle on a bit more caramel sauce if you prefer, but we also enjoy topping our grilled caramel apples with crushed peanuts, walnuts, or even cashews. It’s the perfect fall treat!

Mix It Up

You could also make this dish into more of a caramel apple crisp by cutting your apple slices a little smaller before grilling them, then adding granola and caramel sauce to a foil packet. Alternatively, you could use only cinnamon sugar on your apples and leave it at that if you’re looking for something a bit healthier. Or you could go the other way and top whatever you decide to make with a bit of vanilla ice cream to tie it all together. The key to your success is to simply figure out what sounds best to you and go from there. And to enjoy the end result, of course!

Need to Buy a Propane Tank?

The key to getting the best flavor from your apples is to grill them, and what better way to do that than on a propane grill? We believe that grilling in the fall is one of life’s small joys, so be sure that you don’t run out of propane by finding a propane tank exchange location near you. If you’re well stocked, you can easily make some of the best fall dishes and still get in some time with your grill. It doesn’t get much better than that!
