If you’re relatively new to grilling, chances are that you decided to pick out a grill, buy a propane tank, and master the art of the backyard barbecue. Finding a new hobby that you can dive into head first is always a blast. Of course as with any good hobby, you start to realize that your initial view of what your hobby would be like is a little bit narrow. This is completely normal!

The more you explore the ins and outs of a hobby, the more your scope of what it entails grows. For many people, the hobby begins and ends with throwing some burgers and brats and hot dogs on the grill and having people over for a barbecue. If you’re really fancy, you might throw some chicken on there too and hope that it doesn’t get too dried out while you’re grilling it.

Take It To The Next Level

Regardless of what your initial view of grilling looked like, you probably decided to branch out a bit and try something new at some point or another. Some people are perfectly content to only break out the grill for the times that they have people over and there’s nothing wrong with that at all. You, on the other hand, decided to dive into your hobby head first.

Hey, we’re right there with you!

If you caught the grilling bug, you’re in good company. That’s why in today’s blog, we’ll delve into one of the (admittedly) nerdier aspects of our hobby–grilling accessories. If you’re serious about grilling, chances are that you will consider getting a grill cover at some point or another. This is one of the wisest investments you can make, and we’ll tell you why in today’s post.

Why You Absolutely Need a Grill Cover

Protection From the Elements

Chances are that no matter what, your grill is spending the vast majority of its time outside. Whether your grill resides on a backyard patio, a front porch, a second-floor deck, or just outside of your back door, it’s going to be exposed to some harsh weather. From burning sun in the summer to harsh winds and snow in the winter, your grill will no doubt see some pretty tough weather at some point or another.

Even if the grill you purchased didn’t cost you an arm and a leg, it still makes sense to protect it from the worst that the weather has in store. Trust us when we say that the first time you get a foot of snow, you’ll be happy when you look outside and see the snow sitting on a grill cover instead of on the beautiful stainless steel of your grill.

Protection From Prying Eyes

Unfortunately we live in a world where theft can happen. Regardless of the motivation of thieves, the truth of the matter is that a fancy grill that’s sitting outside could be a target for theft despite its relative weight and difficulty to move. At the end of the day, it just makes sense to protect your investment from prying eyes. You never know when someone will take a stroll through your alley, see a shiny grill, and decide that they’re taking it with them.

A grill cover will help more than you might think. Rather than seeing a big, expensive looking grill, people will see a discreet neutral cover. Sure, there is still a potential that someone will hop the fence and take a peek under the cover, but we have to imagine the risk goes down significantly when you use a grill cover.

They’re Easy to Replace

Perhaps best of all, a grill cover is going to be relatively inexpensive. Head to a local store or check on Amazon and grab the one that you think will work best for your needs. Chances are that it won’t set you back too much, and if it does, it might be overkill. As we mentioned above, a grill cover is going to protect your grill from harsh weather. In other words, the cover itself will take the brunt of the damage.

What that means is that rather than having to replace your propane grill–which will likely cost you over a hundred dollars even for the thriftiest of options–you can replace an inexpensive grill cover every couple of years at most. A small investment now will save you a huge headache later and ensure that you get many years of enjoyment out of your grill. It’s a win/win no matter how you choose to look at things.

Wondering Where to Buy a Propane Tank?

With warmer weather just around the corner, people all across the country are gearing up to fire up their grills for the first time in 2018. Unless, of course, they are braving the weather and grilling in the cold, that is. Hey, stranger things have happened!

If you’re getting excited to do some grilling when it finally starts to feel like spring, why not buy a propane tank now and save yourself the hassle of doing it later? Mighty Flame has a number of propane tank exchange locations to choose from, so it’s as easy as swinging by and swapping out your old tank for a new one, or purchasing one outright if you prefer to do that.
