Even the most accomplished grillers can sometimes come up with a case of “griller’s block.” What is that, you ask? Great question. To put it simply, it’s when you have grilled so much that you just can’t think of anything new to try. Much like a writer experiences writer’s block and can’t figure out how to move forward, a griller can come to a point where he or she wants to move past the burgers and brats, but just can’t think of what to try next.
At Mighty Flame, we always say that when you buy a propane tank, you unlock a world of culinary possibilities and in today’s blog, we aim to prove it! If you’re in a bit of a rut, maybe a new appetizer is exactly what you need to spark your creativity and come up with a new meal. But what appetizers can you make on your grill? As a matter of fact, that’s the topic of today’s blog, so if you’re looking for some inspiration, keep reading to learn more!
A Few Of Our Favorite Grilled Appetizers
Margarita Chicken Skewers
The first recipe comes from Food Network. This particular recipe comes from Sandra Lee and it’s a great way to get any meal started! It’s quick and easy and the end result is delicious. You’ll notice that the entire thing takes 54 minutes to cook, but the great news is that the majority of that time is actually spent marinating the chicken.
Once that’s done, all it takes is a few minutes on each side and before you know it, you’ll be enjoying some amazingly flavorful chicken skewers. These are the perfect complement to any Mexican food you can think of to grill. Perhaps there’s a grilled burrito in your future!
Jalapeno Pepper Poppers
This recipe is also from Food Network, and it also comes from Sandra Lee, if you can believe it! She’s two for two in the grilled appetizer department as far as we’re concerned. One reviewer noted that this recipe leads to “easy, flavorful, delicious” results and another notes that this is a “fantastic, easy recipe and a winner for the Fourth of July.” We completely agree, but you can fire up the grill and make these peppers any time.
Between the bacon, the cheese, and the jalapenos, what’s not to love? This recipe offers a wonderful combination of heat and sweet, which hits a (heat and) sweet spot for us. We can’t recommend giving this grilled appetizer a try highly enough.
Bacon Wrapped Crimini Mushrooms
If you’re in the mood for bacon, but the jalapeno poppers above aren’t quite up your alley, these bacon wrapped mushrooms from Serious Eats just might be. All you need is bacon, mushrooms, olive oil, salt and pepper, and skewers. It’s a pretty simple recipe, but the results are truly amazing. These would be great alongside a classic cheeseburger and are a step up from simply grilling a few potatoes as a side dish.
The recipe from Serious Eats is made using a charcoal grill, but you could just as easily take advantage of a propane grill to make this appetizer. The end result is incredibly delicious and you’re sure to add it to your list of go-to recipes.
