Millions of Americans strive every week to come up with the perfect meal plan. Some decide to stick with the old standbys like spaghetti with canned sauce, a frozen pizza, or even a trip to the nearest fast food joint.

At Mighty Flame, we don’t think it needs to be that difficult. As a matter of fact, a propane grill is all you need to make a simple meal that doesn’t take much time or preparation.

As a matter of fact, we started a series that’s entitled “Buy a Propane Tank and Start Cooking” to get people to realize that with a little bit of forethought and creativity, a great meal is a lot less difficult than they might be thinking.

Planning a meal that provides you with all of the important food groups can be a bit of a challenge. How do you incorporate foods together, making it a point to ensure that all of the flavors work with each other while also keeping the cost low enough to suit your budget? The answer is simpler than you might think. Grilled kabobs give you everything you need in one easy to make package.

We previously provided a few of our favorite kabob recipes in a previous blog (click here to read “Buy a Propane Tank and Start Cooking Kabobs”). From chicken and pesto kabobs to asparagus bacon kabobs to sweet and spicy shrimp kabobs, it just shows that with a little bit of thought, you can create a kabob the whole family will love.

Simply serve with a caesar salad on the side and you’re all set!

Let’s break it down a little bit, though. The goal of today’s blog post is to help all of our readers to create their own unique and interesting takes on the kabob. It doesn’t have to simply be a piece of chicken, a slice of onion, and a bit of bell pepper repeated several times until the kabob is full. If you like that, that’s wonderful, but you can create something yourself that’s so much more enjoyable.

A Few Tips from Mighty Flame

When you really break things down, a kabob is just a few things on a skewer that taste good together. It really is as simple as that. Don’t overthink it too much. Instead, consider how a few of your favorite foods interact with each other and what it is that you like about those things.

For example, if you absolutely love spaghetti and meatballs, you may realize that what you love the most is the sausage, tomatoes, and Italian seasoning. That makes it a bit easier to plan your kabob. Start with slices of sausage links, skewer on cherry tomatoes, and allow the kabob to sit overnight in a combination of olive oil and parsley, garlic, and oregano and you’re on the path to success!

Simply breaking down foods that you already love to their simplest forms and then coming up with a marinade to bring out the flavor is all it takes to make a great meal.

From there, simply fire up the grill to medium-high heat (which is a great go-to when you’re not sure what temperature to cook at) and then heat through until they’re totally cooked. It’s that simple.
