If you’re just starting out you don’t have to worry about getting the fanciest thermometer ever made. A simple one will do and if you’re not sure how done something is all you have to do is stick it in your dish and get a reading. Secondly, and equally important for our purposes today: use the accessories you buy! There’s a lot of talk about being able to tell how done a steak is by comparing it to the fleshy part of your hand between your thumb and index finger. Seeing as how that’s a spot that’s sure to differ in softness from person to person we’d like to present a better option: use your thermometer! That’s what it’s for. Trust us when we say that before you know it you’ll be able to see visually when your steaks are getting close to your preferred level of doneness. Just like anything, practice makes perfect, so practice often, enjoy the fruits of your labors, and reap your rewards in the long run. It doesn’t get much better than that!
At the end of the day the goal is to have a good time and if you consider the learning experience to be part of the fun then you’ll have a blast! When it comes down to it the fact of the matter is that you’re definitely going to make mistakes when you’re first starting out. There will be things that turn out poorly and that you end up deciding to cut your losses on. But here’s the kicker.
